SAVOCA AND MESSINA (about 6 hours from the ports of Catania, Giardini Naxos and Messina)
This trip will reach first Savoca, a medieval village perched 300 meters above sea level famous for the crypt of the capuchin monastery in which are preserved and exhibited the mummies of some monks and wealthy people. The town, together with Forza d'Agrò, was the location for the scenes set in Corleone of Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather.
Return to Messina, to enjoy the spectacular view on the strait dividing Sicily from the mainland and the city centre of the town with its Norman cathedral.
